Upcoming birthday reflections

I´m looking forward to having my 26th birthday in a few days time! This would be my 3rd birthday in Germany. Ever since I moved to Germany, having a birthday has become a bitter-sweet thing for me. For one thing, I miss meeting up with my usual girlfriends and just have a girly-fun time together. I do struggle with "being forgotten" when I´m out of sight out of mind. This thing hits me the most on my birthday, when I start asking myself how many people actually do remember and drop me a note to say hi. But I know that God is working in me that my sole foundation and purpose rests on Him and Him alone. Friends and family are wonderful props for my life, but ultimately its in the absence of all these props that one is fully molded and shaped into God´s ultimate purposes. For everything I have in my life in Germany, I´m thankful to God and pray that I will always be.

Sigh, every time you celebrate your birthday, I'm reminded of how I'm a good decade older than you...

Have a happy birthday, my dear and may all your wishes come true.

Thanks dear! :) So sweet of you to reply to my entry so quickly! Guess what, nobody would know your age if you don´t reveal it. You look really young. Plus you do have 3 children, so that´s a huge headstart. I´m just a few steps behind you. Hoping to have 3 children just like you too!

Incidentally, the date of your post was my birthday. I asked your dad when your birthday was, he said he could only remember the boys' birthday (because the date and the month the same)but not the girls'. Have a blessed birthday.

I could have been the youngest grand dad if my grand child were born about 2 yrs ago...Have kid at young age and you would enjoy retirement feeling when the kid is grown up.

Well, could have 3 kids at the same time actually if you wish to catch up with fertility pill... ha..ha..

It is not how many birthdays other people would remember us, it is how we spend our rest of the days to assist others to abide in Christ that they would remember Him in this coming Christmas day...

Sorry, I have forgotton your birthday including the month! Not unusual, since I have forgotton mine in 2006 when I had organized an international event right on my birthday itself...with limited grey area, I think..

Dear Dreamer Dad
Its obvious to see that you can´t wait to be a grandfather. Although it´d probably be a case of only being to see your grandchildren once a year, unless you come down to visit. Don´t need fertility pill lah. We´re not even trying. Not yet at least. Think I´ve explained our reasons before. Don´t need to explain again. It pays off to be patient, Dad -plus you´ll get Eurasian grandchildren, that should be worth waiting for, no? hahah

Dear Forgetful Dad
Did you seriously forget your own birthday? Unbelievable!

Yeap, I think I tend to forget quite easily literally...

Well, 'BLESSED BIRTHDAY MY LITTLE PRISCILLA TAN'. As long as you are still without a biological kid, you are still my little girl.. ha..ha..

You know, some close friends kept asking me why I am still without any grandkid since you have been married for close to 3 years, I was just dumbfounded and at the loss of words. They have been wondering why on earth people want to jump into marriage when they do not plan to have kid soon.

As for me and at my age, I would not dare to have kid if I ever get married again.

Ok, maybe, let's challenge who would have kid first, you or I..ha..ha..

Dear Forgetful dreamer Dad
I heard that even though children get their own children, they will see be seen as children from the eyes of the parents.
Well, I think its a different mentality and culture in Singapore. I DO realize that many people start having children almost immediately or only after 1 year of marriage in Singapore. Its not the same here though. If your friends ask next time, just tell them that we are enjoying our couplelife and know that it won´t come back again once we have kids. So we´re in no hurry to have kids. In any case, we´re not answerable to anybody about when we decide to have kids...so actually, its none of their business actually. (crudely put). Plus, we did have a 3-yr long-distance relationship before we got married and in-between the relocation issues, language barrier etc etc. You do take about 2 years to get used to a different country and culture - which is smth nobody understds unless they have ever stayed in a foreign-speaking country before. If I were you, I wouldn´t even bother explaining things to them. Family life is meant to be private.
And hmmm, don´t want to accept your challenge lah. You can go ahead and have children before us if you want to.Don´t want to conceive a child out of a "challenge".
