Paris part 7 - More famous sights

Random photos of monuments in Paris that we have all heard of.

Arc de Triomph. Its huge! And its situated at a roundabout with the highest frequency of traffic accidents in the world! About 1 every hour. Talk about being crazy.

The arch was commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to commemorate his victories, but he was ousted before the arch was completed. In fact, it wasn't completed until 1836 during the reign of Louis-Philippe. The Arc de Triomphe is engraved with names of generals who commanded French troops during Napoleon's regime. Source
The Champs-Élysées

The Arc is right at the end of one of the world's best-known shopping streets. This is the street to see and be seen. Oh boy. Its not a stereotype that French women are fashionable. They really are! You see women pushing their strollers and having little kids, but still dressed in the latest fashion, with high boots and looking every bit like a model out of a fashion magazine!  I felt beyond under-dressed here!

However, I still think Paris is the place to go on holiday but not to live. My French friend who lived and worked in Paris for a couple of years since that she couldn't stand the way people were so competitive and there was always office politics.

Speak about size. Louis Vuitton is in a building of its own in Paris!
This structure needs no introduction. Tom Cruise proposed to his beau, Katie Holmes on top of this tower. Its magnificent. Really. You have got to see it at least once in your life.

Hey Pris, my flat's very near the Arc de Triomphe, between Av Kleber and Av Victor Hugo...

And I love Paris, have lived, studied and worked there for years and think it's one of the most wonderful cities in the world!

We're from Singapore, we thrive on competition...:-)

Hey Serene!
Oh wow, your flat is practically downtown! You must miss living in Paris then, esp. since you speak French like your own native language!

I'm still excited to hear which city you'd be in next.

And yes, I do agree with you that we do thrive on competition. Though I really didn't like that aspect of Singapore while growing up. I hated being compared to my sister all the time.

Hi Pris
Just saw your comment.
I absolutely love blogging but I have been so busy lately, working, looking after my children and running a home that blogging has been left out completely.
I love you Paris pics. I so wanted to go to Paris this year. Maybe we will go next year for our anniversary :)
