Autumn´s here, but it feels like winter!

Above: Some home-made autumn decoration that I got from a friend of mine. Love it! Gives my home a nice, cozy Autumy feeling. As I said, German ladies are gifted at home deco.

I can´t believe how cold its gotten recently.

Last week it was still warm and this week, I´m fully-armed in my winter wear. Even then, I shudder at the thought of having to spend a long time outdoors.

I´ve also been hitting a point of low motivation about cooking. On one hand, I know that I should cook since I get hungry faster when the weather´s cold, on the other, I´d rather stay indoors than to face the cold by going to the supermarket. Hubby offered his services to go to the supermarket instead, but I like to get inspiration about what to cook by going there myself.

Still, I´m surviving by making easy stuff - fast, warm and tasty....

White asparagus with Schlemmerfillet (fish), potatoes, Hollandaise sauce and herbs.

That´s the first time I made white asparagus on my own. I was always put off by the amount of preparation one has to do for fresh white asparagus. Hence, I simply bought those in a can! Cheap, good and all prepared for you. Great stuff! Shall buy it more often!

Chicken and tofu cooked in Szechuan Kong Bao sauce with spring onions.

I decided to use the bottle of Yeo´s Szechuan Kong Bao sauce that Sabrina gave me for my birthday last year. When I opened the bottle, I thought that it smelt very spicy. True enough, I saw a couple of red chilli inside it. I gingerly fished them out and used the sauce sparingly because I wasn´t sure how spicy it would be. Still, I added half a bottle since I needed the taste in my food. Tried diluting it with water, yoghurt and sugar - in my futile attempts to decrease the spicyness by a few notches.

Final verdict? It must have been the most spicy Kong Bao I´ve ever eaten. Tasty, but oh-so-beyond-my-tolerance-level. Ate it really fast so that the spicyness wouldn´t register too much in my brains. The hubby was so game to eat up his portion too. This guy has really improved by leaps and bounds in his spicyness tolerance!

Of course, my number one rescue food is Indomie Instant Noodles with egg. I still haven´t found it in Germany yet and am surviving on my Singapore rations. If you know anywhere I can buy this, please let me know.

Ok, my dad´s arriving Stuttgart today and we´ll be spending time with him until Monday. So have a great weekend!

It's weird that you cannot find Indomie in Stuttgart - since it's a quite big city. In Wiesbaden and Frankfurt I can always find Indomie in all the Asian groceries I have visited. If you still cannot find Indomie in one of those Asiamärkte in Stuttgart, try this online shop, it has quite some interesting Asian (mostly Indonesia) food related stuffs: tokoindonesia.de . Hope this helps :).

Thanks for your help. I can find the Indomie in the asian stores here, but they are not the same as those from Singapore - with the same name. The chilli packet in the noodles in Germany are the saucey type compared to the powder type from Singapore. Plus it tastes different somehow. The 2 packets look different too. Hope you know what I´m talking about.

Hm, is the indomie stock you currently have Indonesian or Singaporean? I was actually talking about the Indonesian indomie. The indomie I can find here has chilli powder included instead of the chilli sauce. I think the original one from Indo actually has both - chilli powder and also the chilli sauce. Sorry if I am not much help ...Well, I tried:).

Cooking gallery - The Indomie stock is the one from Singapore. Can I have a look at the picture of the packet that you have? The one I can buy here doesn´t have the chilli powder packet.

It looks like the picture in the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Indomie_(pack).jpg, but with less sachets - without the chilli sauce (only chilli powder) and fried onions. I hope you've been talking about the mie goreng flavour so far, not the other ones...;-)!

That´s the one I can find in the stores here. However they come with chilli sauce and not the chilli powder. I don´t know how yours are those with chilli powder. The ones I´m referring to looks like this

I've never seen the indomie package you showed me from the link. I think the indomie factory distributes different types of mie goreng around the world. I mean inside the package, there are sometimes a few sachets missing. The original one from Indo actually has 5 complete sachets (seasoning+chilli powder, chilli sauce, oil, sweet soy sauce and fried onions). The mie goreng I saw in Sydney also didn't have a chilli powder sachet I think. A few years ago, the mie goreng I could find in Wiesbaden/Mainz/Frankfurt area had 5 complete sachets, but nowadays, the chilli sauce and fried onions sachets are no longer available. I think they're either trying to gain more profit, or they're trying to reduce their production cost. It's funny how in my area I only could get indomie with chilli powder and you get the ones chilli sauce...!

Cooking gallery- That´s really weird that you have the chilli powder and I only have the chilli sauce. I think I should try buying one packet here again and try it. See if they have changed the contents. I prefer the taste of the other packet (from Singapore), somehow there´s a distinctively different taste.

But Pris, I used to buy the Indomie noodles by the box from Nurtingen! And I've given you the address 2 years ago...

Serene, hey I know! But I haven´t been able to find the address anymore. I must have misplaced it somehow. Do you happen to still have the address? Nürtingen isn´t that near to Stuttgart.... yikes.
