Prayer and fasting week

Stephan and I will be on an IT fast from tomorrow onwards until Friday.

Its part of the prayer-and-fasting week from our church, which takes places at the beginning of each new year.

We figured that there´s really nothing much that we can´t do without - we don´t have a TV, hardly shop etc....so other than food and internet, we´re pretty quite ok.

Since we tried fasting once without food for one whole day and it sorta hindered us being able to pray (we were thinking of food ALL the time), instead of making it more conducive, we figured out that we´re going to try an IT fast.

I might log on every now and then for email updates, since I use that for work, but other than that, that would mean no blog entries, no facebook, no reading of peoples´blogs too..... boo hoo.

Will write in a week´s time about how our IT-fast went......

Jesus fasted and prayed for 40 days and nights in the desert. He was thoroughly hungry and was tempted by the adversary to cast stone to change into bread. His response even though he was extremely hungry and weak just like we would, "Men shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God." I think, food is the necessity of sustaining lives. And we should try to emulate as close as possible to what our Saviour Jesus had gone through.

There goes the ultimate challenge of prayer and fasting. Start, at a manageable period and later proceed to a longer duration.

I think your church is doing the wonderful thing of having her members to participate in this regular prayer and fasting as advocated by our Lord Jesus himself. He said in the gospel that once the bridegroom is away, we should fast.

Stay focus and may God bless you both richly as he knows food is your most challenging obstacle as do so for many of us...

There would be somebody out there who may have a need that requiring you to pray for them since they would know that you have dedicated this week for prayer and fasting.

So, most likely, they would send it my email or through this blog. May want to consider reading your blog or even your personal email for such need.

I for one, have sent it to you and hope that you have read it before the event is over.

Cheers...

Dear Weakness Make Strong
You´re right... food is the most difficult fast for us. We´re still not at that point yet. Besides Stephan gets monster headaches when he fasts and as he´s still studying for his exams, we figured it isn´t the best time for him to fast from food now. As you said, a step at a time is enough for now.
And yes! We read your email and prayed for you! Thank God for the positive results! Phew!

Dear Andrea!
We survived! I almost fainted the first time when I logged on to check my email but couldn´t go to my blog, facebook, check peoples´blogs, go see the news etc...But its definitely manageable! Can try your coffee fast when you feel up to it!
