Reflections

I´ve been feeling restless in my spirit. The wishing of something more to happen in my life has been bugging me. I remember this prophecy that was prayed over us during our DTS. The Sanborns (missionaries in Southeast Asia for the past decade) had a vision of us being at a train station where nothing was happening, people were sleeping and we were waiting for the next train.

The second vision was that of us out on a field with a home-made rocket. We desire to have our lives with impact, we don´t want normal lives with nothing moving. God is preparing for us an amazing rocket and that we shouldn´t be discouraged, for God is polishing us and there is a time. We also had the verses of Deuteronomy 30:5-14, 31:5.

When we first got the prophecy we had no idea what it meant. Now after 2 years, I can´t say how much this prophecy has helped me to cling on to hope, to continue to be faithful to what God has placed on my plate. Ever since we moved to Germany, we (or at least myself) still don´t really know exactly what is it that God has in store. It has helped for me to find a job, since I do enjoy my current job way more than my previous job.

However, there´s still this nagging sense that there´s more! I believe that its no coincidence that the current issue of Everyday with Jesus is about God writing His story in our lives. I´ve been so encouraged.... some snippets of what I´ve learnt. "Maybe ...things are happening in your life that just don´t make any sense to you. Take heart, you are only on page 29 (of God´s book for your life). Up ahead the Divine Author is going to show you the significance of what is happening to you. Remember "He works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will"Eph 1:11b. The important thing now is that you trust the Author and play your part well. That may involved helping another person, not letting others down, doing the loving thing even though you don´t feel like it. You are part of a story - a much bigger story - and what you do counts - infinitely" Selwyn Huges.

... "doing the loving thing" - Man. That´s been a thorn in my flesh lately. I´ve been having neighbour problems again... as I blog, I can hear her TV through my walls and its already 11.30pm mind you. I thought I´ve got over it. But its like when the same thorn pokes itself in the same spot where it hurts (and has hurt before), I feel like my flesh is screaming. Or like what Joyce Meyer would say "my flesh goes into a fit" or smth like that. Could you say a prayer for me that I wouldn´t give the devil a foothold in my life by bearing grudges at this woman? Its such a fight. Literally, a war in my soul. I feel just like Paul did "3 times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me"2 Cor 12:8. However, my QT material again said smth like "the highest goal we must have when attempting to help anyone spiritually is not the resolution of the problem but to attempt to understand the story-line that God is writing. The goal is to know God in the problem". And yes, I want to know God in the problem with this old woman. Someday I will understand why our dream apartment is located in a hostile building - neighbour wise I mean.

Above: Something frivolous - my new H&M buys for Autumn and Winter. So happy that I found jeans that fit and they only cost 40€ (considered cheap in Germany). My top, innerwear (long spaghetti top), necklace are all from H&M. What do you think? Does long tops suit me?

you look cute in this french/sailor outfit but maybe wearing boots or ballerina flats might suit the whole look better.

Thanks! I tried wearing boots but together with a long top, my legs look very short. So didn´t think it was a good idea after all. I thought that it´d be better to elongate my legs? Wouldn´t wearing ballerina flats make me look shorter? Who´s this btw? Care to intro yourself?

Ponder upon Genesis 1:28...herein lies probably your answer as to finding something very worthwhile to do...

In your circumstances, probably it would be a good idea to drop by your neighbour with a basket of fruits and chit-chat...Perhaps, with an earphone for your neighbour would be a solution that could be considered...

Maybe God is telling you to move out and get your own place. Afterall, you would be having a windfall soon right?

When you are slim and young you can pass off any outfit but frankly the colour makes you look older than your age. Think you look better in light youthful pastel shades like baby pink/blue.

Checked out Genesis 1:28. I´m not going to procreate simply because I want to find smth more worthwhile to do. If and when we do have kids, it´d be because we want to have kids and not because I want to fill a gap in my life.

Know enough women who have kids because they didn´t know what else better to do with their lives and having children didn´t solve the problem.

I do happen to enjoy my job a lot. Its not the job that´s the issue. This post was more for spiritual direction, in terms of my ministry and calling and why God wants us to be in Germany. Anyways, I believe that God will show us in His timing and in the meantime, blogging helps me to sort out my spaghetti-thoughts.

About the neighbour - Oh, we´ve gone to lengths to try to resolve the issue. Even the mention of earphones to her, got her raging and she involved the landlord. Anyways, we think the best way is to ignore the noise and think of other things to do like turning on our own music.

We wouldn´t be staying here very long anyways, since its too small to have kids. But we´re not looking at other apartments now, since Stephan´s still bugged down with his exams. We´ll probably look around actively next yr or smth.

Colour of the clothes - I have enough baby pink stuff. That´s why I want to diversify my colours. Find this colour pretty neutral and nice

Hey sis,

no idea who anonymous is and don't want to upset anyone but think you look really cute in it (might have to have a look at that stuff in H&M myself actually) and also think that you were wearing the right shoes with it as they elongate your legs. Also think that you look much older but not in a bad way. You look a lot more grown-up now, like a youthful adult if that makes sense? And don't take comments that you don't want to hear to your heart. Different people, different taste. Don't get annoyed.

Don't despair about the neighbour, let her play her music. I know that it is annoying but if you get upset about it it'll only hurt you - clearly she doesn't give a $h*t!

Will reply to your email as soon as I can. Give my brother a big kiss from me, thinking of him a lot and hoping that he'll have the energy to get through it all.

Lots of love from me,

jie jie

I completely agree with you here that God has more planned for us. Whenever I look back I see how everything falls into place, but I definitely wasn't thinking that when I was living through it. Hang in there, God has a plan for sure! As for the neighbor, I don't think it's un-loving to address their loud TV settings that late at night but maybe there's back story here that I don't know about... Clothes look great, def keepers!

Hi Pris...lurve the outfit! Miss dressing up for autumn (I hate the cold winter in Sh last year), but autumn's great! Long tops with jeans. Try pairing boots but let your jeans cover them or go for ankle-cut boots. H&M is big in Sh too and my flatmate and I got quite a few items there. Mango too! How I wish I can dress up for autumn again...

Dear Jie Jie!
Thanks for your advice! I gave Stephan a BIG fat kiss from you already! Hahha, he was demanding for it! Yah I do think that I look matured, but in a positive way I think...not negative. Thanks! And yup will probably increase my ignorance level to maximum! hahah.... So far, I´ve been feeling better abt the whole disturbance already... :)

Archie mck - are you Grace? :) Thanks for your encouragement! Yup! Shall endeavour to trust Him a step at a time. At least I´m really happy with my job and what I´m doing now.... :) We did talk to the neighbour before (a long time ago), but nothing positive came out of the conversation. So we sorta left it as it is. As long as we don´t hear the noise from our bedroom, we´re fine. Just that it still irritates us.

Cyn! Are you back in SIngapore now actually? Yup, I´m thinking of getting short boots that I can wear under my pants...would be a great idea! :) Thanks! Come visit me lah! Then you can dress for autumn again! hahah

I'd lurve to meet up with you and your hubby, but need to fill my pockets with cold hard cash. Currently, all funds are tied up in the marriage preps...sigh...will do a honeymoon in Europe if hubby can take long leave, then we'll come down to visit! =)

Pris said...

Hey Cyn! Oh that´s lovely if you could come down! When´s your wedding again? Your ROM is over right? Does that mean that you´re living together with your husband already? **sorry for asking, just curious**

Hi Pris,

Archie MCK is not me. By the way, it muses me that you somehow know who the "anonymous" person is. Ha ha. I burst out laughing when "anonymous" told me what Genesis 1:28 said (didn't know offhand)and knew instantly how u would react.

I bought for you mee siam and prawn noodle paste already (2 pkts each). Still waiting for your other requested items.

Hey Pris

Yup...ROM's over! Customary is next year Dec 13. Come back then la...then you can attend my wedding. No, I'm not staying with my hubby yet. We are still looking for our own place, but taking it slow for now as housing prices here are still pretty high. Anyway, hubby and I used to stay over at each other's homes when we were in Shanghai, so nothing's new. ;P

Dear Andrea!

Thks 4 dropping by! Yah! I love H&M stuff, will pop by today to get some more stuff... :) Still looking for a nice pair of boots....gd boots are expensive, around 150 to 200€! So need to be really careful about that...Oh, I can´t wear my chunky shoes now, its too cold! Need smth covered up!

Thks 4 yr email! I will reply it asap! OH, you will be able to dress up for seasons soon enough! Shanghai´s quite cold in winter too right? And well, at least you start off by knowing how to speak the language! I´m sure not every western country would be your cup of tea....love ya! Pris

Pris said...

Hey Cyn! Wow, you´re taking it a step at a time. We had our ROM and wedding all on the same day! That made it easier for us to remember when we got married. Hahaha....And yes housing prices in Singapore are crazy right? We´re still renting our place here, but at least prices are still reasonable in comparison...
