Comfort food for a sick person

I´ve been having cravings for homely food lately. I think it started with having a super itchy sty on my left eyelid, which is usually a sign that I´m "too heaty". Basically that means that I´d be more susceptible to falling sick. True enough, I actually fell sick today. It seemed to happen overnight, although I think I started being contagious at least 2 weeks earlier already. The weather in Germany took such a turn for the worse - super cold overnight. Last Friday, it was still warm and Saturday, it felt like winter! I started wearing my winter clothes in Sept!

I wanted to turn on the heater, but my dear hubby insisted that it was too early(in the year) to turn on the heater. When my nose started running uncontrollably today and I had to keep sneezing in my classes today, I simply knew that I should have followed my instincts and turn on the heater even if it was "too early". We ended up having to cancel cell today, cos I didn´t feel up to having more than 10 youths in my apartment when I´m down with the flu bug... went to school but still had to cancel one of my company classes, since I really couldn´t bear talking with a scratchy throat and bad nose.....

Can´t believe that it must have been more than 2 years since I last ate this! It just never occured to me to cook it! Ever since I bought a steaming plate recently, all these ideas for steaming started popping back to mind. That´s steamed egg with minced meat, water, seasoned with sesame oil, soya sauce, pepper. Very cantonese (I think). Stephan loved it so much, he said he can´t believe that it took him more than 30 yrs to have his first try at this dish. For me, it was like heaven on earth.... yummy!

That´s Kailan with prawns. My attempt to fry shallots so as to get crispy shallots failed terribly as it tasted burnt! Other than that, this was another comfort food....

Healthy salad with salmon, lettuce, cucumber and tomato seasoned with herbs

Isn´t that such a funny mix?!? East and West

That´s minced meat with tofu and some egg.
The metal plate below is my new kitchen toy - the steaming plate!

The finished product. Honest opinion? We preferred the steamed egg with minced meat. Somehow steamed tofu doesn´t taste like anything!
