Singapore National Day celebrations

This is my second National Day celebrations in Germany. I remembered feeling nostalgic about Singapore last year. I´m glad to say that one more year in Germany does make a lot of differences in terms of adjusting and finding new Singaporean friends.

We celebrated the day by first meeting up at my place for some tea and cake with Gerline, Serene and Sok Mun. It was so funny. Most Europeans would opt for coffee or cappucino or some English tea. What did we Singaporeans girls have? Lo Han Guo - a "cooling" fruit tea instead. Serene wasn´t feeling well and my throat was bad....so we all decided to "cool" down our bodies by having something refreshing. It was great fun to catch up on what we´ve been up to, since we last met up. All of us are working by now and facing different challenges in the workplace. It was so relaxing and good for the soul to indulge in Singlish, speak super fast and exchange tips about food! (Stephan claims that Singaporeans talk about food 24/7! But guess what, my hubby´s becoming Singaporean too. Yesterday at a BBQ, he was recommending this superb Spanish restaurant to others...) We headed off to a BBQ-cum-National Day Celebration with the other Singaporeans where we savoured local delicacies like Otah (home-made), fish ball, fish cake, grilled prawns and of course German sausages and seasoned meat....yummy!

My contribution - Konnyaku jelly made in muffin cups! I love this idea! So praktisch!

The aesthetically-beautiful and yummy finished product

That´s Michelle and I. Michelle´s the 11-yr-old of Jennifer, who organised this party. Notice that I dressed according to the colour theme? Right down to my white watch and red bag! Notice that our white skirts are similar too?

Hey, great idea of using the muffin tin as a konyaku mold! I have some konyaku powder but didn't make it because I did not have any molds.
