It´s so hot lately, with temperatures hovering in the high 20s. I went swimming in the afternoon today and still ended up perspiring like crazy after that. My companies have been cancelling their courses too as many of the participants are on holiday. That leaves me with more free time, but of course with a larger backlog of hours that would have to be made up for in the colder months.
Anyways, I´ve been enjoying myself this week. After a stressful last week, this week has proved a respite for me :) Been reading the book of Proverbs in my quiet time and there are quite a number of verses that I found very true, relevant and meaningful..... just sharing my thoughts....
- "Children´s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children" Prov 17:6
I guess being a grandparent makes being a parent worth it eh? That´s why grandparents are "supposed" to spoil their grandchildren.
- "The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man´s inmost parts" Prov 18:8
Isn´t the Bible amazing? That´s why all the gossip magazines sell like hotcakes! When we compare ourselves to others, we either feel good about ourselves, (that leads to pride) or we feel crap about ourselves (since there are so many people who are richer, prettier, more successful etc.) I want to choose to be contented where I am in this season of my life. "Godliness with contentment is great gain."
- "Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act" Prov 3:27
This verse was a rhema word for me and Stephan when he was involved in saving his client from bankrupcy. Stephan had to put in many additional hours and risk not being paid since his boss didn´t want to have anything to do with a client who was unable to pay his fees.
