Meetups again

The Merlion - symbol of Singapore

I met up with Gene at Ichiban Boshi at Esplanade for dinner. Its so great to catch up with him. We knew each other from University (stayed in the same hall) and have been sharing a very treasured friendship since then. He was my wedding dinner co-ordinator too. Gene's a very talented guy, juggling many ministries in church, while having a full-time job as a computer programmer and pursuing his hobby as a wedding photographer. His portfolio is located here. I can already hear wedding bells ringing for him soon!

Ailing and baby Sophie - don't you think Ailing's eyes are like bulging and she looks SO YOUNG here? Can hardly tell she's the mom, except from the fact that she's grabbing the edge of Sophie's shirt. I met up with Ailing and Sophie at 9.45am at Botanical Gardens last Tuesday for a nice walk and lunch. This must be the earliest (casual) appointment I've had since I came to Singapore! This place holds such fond memories for me, since I used to go there to do my quiet times with God when I was living on my own at my Granny's place. Stephan and I also took our wedding photos in this garden.

Still remember that when I sat in the pavilion, thinking of life, reflecting in my journal, I was still unmarried and kept looking forward to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of "long-distance relationship". Now I'm married for more than 2 years and being back in this place reminds me of God's faithfulness and goodness in my life.

And as if to visualize my future, we actually saw a group of mothers and kids having fun together on a grass patch. One obvious thing I noticed was that all the babies were "mixed" babies, from Asian and Caucasian heritage. I really couldn't help but kept looking at one beautiful baby after the other, while holding an inner excitement about what God has planned for my and Stephan's future.

I know I must have said this a million times, but Sophie is such a smart girl! She fed some koi fishes in the pond and always has this "I'm thinking about the world", observant look on her face. She really is a thinker! Treasured this time with Ailing too, my first-ever mentor when I was 18. Still learn so much from her, by reading her blog and spending time with her.

I also met up with Gerline and Cory at Vivocity for dinner. It rained that day and boy, was it cold! The buses and shopping centre was so cold that the cold air condensed on the windows! Anyways, I knew Cory in Singapore - albeit for a short time (she works for BMW) and we three had such a superb time together! Cory used to work for the prison department and she's such a tough girl! Boy, she can relate her past experiences without flinching, whereas I was like cringing at the thought of having to go through what she did as part of her job. Anyways, .... we really miss having her in Germany! Come back and join us leh!
