Warning: Long post ahead with plenty of photos.... pls tag or leave me a comment ok?
We drove from Stuttgart and arrived in Zürich around late afternoon. Didn´t do a lot, except walk along the river, looked at the shops and ate at a pretty-packed Swiss restaurant. Ignoring the prices on the menu (Zürich being known to be pricey), I ordered a fish dish (which I was sorely disappointed cos there were so many bones). Nevertheless, we had a good time over dinner and headed back to our hotel - which was a really cozy "space- shuttle-like" 4* hotel.
Day 2 - Luzern
The famous Chapel bridge
Notice the castle in the background?
Luzern reminded me of a quaint small town. We walked around the place, had chinese food for lunch, bought some Starbucks coffee and cinnamon rolls before heading down to Interlaken. As we didn´t read much about the history, we weren´t really sure about the historical significance of this place. We also tried looking for the graveyard of Grace´s late aunt, but to no avail.
Day 3: Interlaken
This is such a gorgeous place! Mountains, breath-taking scenery and a superb 5* hotel! The only thing missing was the skiing part as most people go to Interlaken to ski. Stephan and I have made an agreement that we would go skiing when he passes his tax advisor´s exams as a reward.... looking forward to the next winter already even before it gets warm here.
The 5* hotel where we stayed
The scenic view from our hotel room
At the train station where we waited to ascend the mountain
Isn´t this pix cool? The clouds make the mountains look so majestic and the Swiss flag in the foreground too....
This was the place where James Bond 007 was filmed
It was so hard to breathe on top of the mountain, cos the air was so thin and it was freezing cold (-19 degrees)! We could barely walk fast and every few steps came with a big fat headache. The wind was really strong too and we could only stay outside for a short while at a time. I really wonder how people can survive Mount Everest! Reminded me of my student exchange program in Canada where it was always -20 to -30degrees.
This funny guy fell to his knees to "propose" to me on top of the mountain.

Hey Pris
Thanks for sharing your holiday experiences, looks so gorgeous the snowy wonderland !
Hope your sore eyes heals also, poor you, can imagine it being so uncomfortable !
Think u v. brave leh to go to companies to teach English plus I imagine its to people mostly older than u r. Too bd u not teaching in S. france cos being late here is the norm !!!! ;)
Now, I understand the reason for Switzerland to be nominated for the Best Quality of Life in the world for 6 successive years... beautiful artitechure, clear blue sky, majestic mountains, serene lakes, and reasonable pace of life..Surprisingly few traffic lights but abundant pedestrain crossings..Orderly traffic and for the first time the speed camera flashed when the car I was driving exceeded 50kmh...Thank God there was no accident, just a ticket, I think..May cost 120 swiss dollars. Whatever it is, better than being involved in car collision...
Hi Pris,
Yes, that's LG! :-)
Dear Steph! =) Thanks for your encouragement and empathy. Its amazing that you realized that most of the people I´m teaching are older than me. It is quite intimidating at the companies and I´m glad that for now, I´m only teaching in the school, until I get an assignment at the companies. I guess S. France is very similar to Singapore in terms of lateness. Read that yr mom left. Will pray that God will give you the supernatural strength, love and grace that you need to be a pillar of support for your young ones.
Dear Dad, we haven´t received anything (the fine) from the Switzerland side yet. Will let you know if anything ok? =) I think Switzerland´s very similar to Germany, though I must add language-wise, I prefer the German-German instead of the Swiss-German. Yeah, good to look on the positive side. At least it was "only a flash" heehee. Everybody makes mistakes, plus it was yr first time driving in Europe too.
