Finally a Saturday trip together! (after 1 yr)....

We finally started travelling! Not overseas but a nearby city. It was an impromptu thing. We wanted to go to a spa place at the Boden See but realized that it would take about 4 hours bothways, so we opted for a closer alternative. Ulm´s only about 1 hour away from where we live, so we
slept in, had lunch and drove down to visit the world´s highest cathedral- the Münster. I was there once with some friends for a 1-hr mega-rushed stopover. This time, we took our time to explore the city on foot, spending a leisurely day together and enjoying each other´s company. The weather was warm during the day but pretty chilly when the sun set. Speaking of weather, its super cold these days! Only 2 degrees today!

In front of the world´s highest cathedral. My fashion for climbing stairs - with boots! hahah, but they were really comfortable, so there was no problem! We climbed to the top of it, all 768 stairs!

Top:That´s my beanie trying to look fierce and macho (to no avail - Notice how he´s holding my red handbag?) The spiraling stairway was pretty narrow. However the architecture was so good that even in the 14th century, they divided the 768 stairs into 3 different segments, where ppl could stop for a break. The stairs would also spiral in different directions at consecutive segments, so ppl wouldn´t faint from giddyness.

Top: The last lap of climbing to the top. There was only enough space for one person to ascend/descend at any one time. We all had to wait against the walls for ppl to pass us by before continuing our ascend.

Our reward: A panoramic view of the state of Baden-Württemberg

Nice sunny day at the lake with swans....looking at beautiful houses....

Love coupley shots.....in front of the lake and city wall (notice the castle in the background?)

A trip is incomplete without us treating ourselves to a nice meal in a restaurant. We found ourselves a quaint German restaurant where we warmed ourselves. My jacket wasn´t warm enough you see.... We walked around for 4 hours after climbing and descending 768 stairs.

Swäbisch soup - Stephan had it as a starter and I sipped some from him

My "riesengarnele"- giant prawns and fish with cream sauce and risotto. Honest opinion, it was pretty delectable but somehow their definition of "giant" doesn´t seem to quite fit with my definition.

Superbly well-done and juice meat! Turkey and pork. My resolution: Next time we eat at a German restaurant, I shall go for their meat dishes......

Hey Pris...you got yourself another job with 2 more comapnies? What are they? Btw, I got through my interview with the educational firm I was telling you about and I'll start on Mon. Will be doing some editing apart from teaching. Finally...a full-time job with full-time pay ;p

Hey Cyn! Oh, its the same company- Wallstreet. But we do corporate clients too, so that means I teach at companies as well....so its quite a nice mixture of individuals and corporate clients. What´s the name of yr educational firm? What type of editing will you be doing? Must be nice to finally have a full-time pay eh? I feel like I´m in a part-time job, cos its not 40hrs but 20hrs a week. Still, I end up feeling so exhausted all the time, cos I travel so much in my job....

And you are so funny... you´re referring to us as the "models" right? ahahah....I liked those photos that I posted! They were among the better ones already! haha.

Hehehe...just kidding la...of cos' it's you and Stephan as the models. I don't see other people in the photos.

I'm working for Just Education - a company that specialises in tuition classes for pri and sec students. We also have holiday enrichment classes that can be fun-filled as well as skills-based. I'll be editing assessments books that you can buy in major bookstores. We do, however, have our own in-house editors too, who come up with content for in-house classes.

I didn't know WallStreet conducts corporate training too. This will give you good exposure. Slightly different set of interpersonal skills, which will put you in good stead. Travelling can be really tiring, even if your no. of working hours is short. I can empathise with you cos' my previous teaching job requires me to travel at least 40 mins one way. This coupled with peak hour rush is a real killer after a long day at work. I'm thankful for my colleague who stays near me, for he picks me up in the morning together with another colleague. In the evenings, the non-drivers will probably cab-pool. I know it's expensive to commute in cabs in Germany. I had a taste of it when I was in Munich and we had to rush to the airport to catch our flight to Greece.

Dear Cyn!
Your new job definitely sounds way more fun than working as teacher for MOE. You have more anonymity to edit books and change syllabus too eh? How big are yr classes? What subjects would you be editing?

Yah, I´ve been having corporate clients for a while now. They are quite similar to those ppl I have at school, cos most of my customers are working adults. Those in my school tend to have a lower expectation and seem more satisfied. I do get some difficult corporate clients sometimes.
