Left: All the different types of spices, garlic, ginger, shallots, coconut curry for my curry
I cooked self-made Chicken Tikka Masala last week and it was another miracle! I still remembered my first attempt of curry chicken. He couldn´t take the smell of coconut curry and had to run to his room for fear of puking. I was devastated then, but took comfort that my in-laws enjoyed the food. That happened 5 yrs ago when I visited Stephan in Germany (we were still dating then). Since then, I´ve been praying that God would change my beanie´s tastebuds so that he would be able to savour the many flavours of the Far East and learn to appreciate them.
It first started with a slight shift of mindset - that he started being more willing to try out new stuff, instead of shunting away immediately. Then, it became a matter of the will....that he would eat even if it wasn´t his favourite ever. And then wah-lah! Stephan had his first-ever superb "10-out-of-10" experience with the curry! He took 2 helpings and said that I could cook the curry anytime! First time that I saw him wipe his bowl clean and eat up so much of the gravy! Okok, I must say that I modified the recipe. The normal Tikka Masala doesn´t have potatoes. But being so used to Singapore curry, I added in potatoes before I even realized that it wasn´t included in the recipe! It turned out awesome though! Just asking - should I post my recipes on my blog? I don´t usually have the habit of doing so, but if anybody finds it easier to get ideas, I would be more than willing to cut-and-paste my recipe....just let me know ok?
Above left: We had curry and papadoms the European way - with wine, baguette and fresh salad.....

Ever thought of publishing your recipes properly? You could make a book out of it - adapting recipes to make it tasty for Germans, how to decorate the flat/the table in different seasons along with your own experiences? Think it would make a lovely book!
Just a little thought. If you do do it and make money, I'm expecting a paper bag with some notes in it though! ;)
Lots of love,

Dear jie jie
That sounds like a nice idea though. However I don´t know if I´d be infringing on any copyright issues, since most of my recipes are either from books or cut-and-paste from the Internet! hahah.... About decorating of tables.... I think I hardly decorate my table! Except the basic candles - which is like really ABC-level for most German women!
What about your Christmas decoration then?
Ohhhh... that one. I enlisted the help of a friend of mine. hahha. Yeah, I could collect decorations like that.....:)
