Above: Clarke Quay at night. Gorgeous, restaurant-and-people galore
Singapore has such a strong food culture that its impossible to meet people without indulging in its many delicacies. Hence, this blog entry with pix of my frens and our eating places.
Left: Meeting up with dear Renita in Suntec, Crystal Jade.
We had such an awesome time catching up over porridge! Crystal Jade simply serves the best porridge I've ever tasted! Renita is such a matured person for her age. Things haven't been very smooth-sailing for her, but she's stood strong and faithful to what God has put on her plate. I'm so proud of her!
This week has been more eventful. I've been meeting up with my friends, even in the afternoon since I found out some of them have time during the day. There were times when my friends couldn't make it for our appts for one reason or the other and I would be left in limbo, not knowing how to spend my time. Once, I was SO HAPPY that Gerline called me at the exact time when I found out that one of my friends couldn't make it for our appt. I was like so touched! Its like God knew exactly when I would start feeling upset and spiral into the "its such a big sacrifice for me to come down to Singapore, what with using up ALL my annual leave, taking no-pay, separating physically from my beloved husband for 1 mth... and still having days when I would eat lunch on my own...." depression. And before it happens, He sends Gerline to call me!
Meeting the soon-to-be-Mrs Chan for Sushi Tei. I had almost everything I wanted to eat here! Jen treated me! I really miss and reminize the times we've had together when we were in school. Once a year just seems too SHORT! I guess it doesn't help that she doesn't have a blog (not a complaint here), but its simply hard to have "real-time" information when I'm overseas......
My beloved friends whom I went to Canada together.... Maddy, Louise and Xiuli (who's not in photo). We went to Jumbo Seafood at Clarke Quay together and ordered my fave chilli crabs (not in pix) plus other old-time faves like baby kai lan and scallops! They treated me again! Its so nice and such a privilege to have friends like them who pamper me when I'm in Singapore! So so treasure this God-given friendship!
Above: Yixin - my beloved ex-roommate from NTU and Accountancy coursemate. We actually met today from 4pm to like 9+pm. She's such a sweetie who has decided to become a Chinese teacher~ We actually spoke a significant amt of Chinese together so that I could improve my language skills. She's still the same- down-to-earth, honest, sweet..... and she'd make such a superb Chinese teacher!
Below: We went to Newton Hawker Centre to satisfy my craving of Sambal Stingray. Boy! For 2 dishes and Sugar cane drinks, I paid only 5 Euros. There's no beating Singapore when it comes to food and price.
Above: Baby, this is our favourite fish soup and sugar cane with lemon at Newton. I ate there alone once for lunch. Had to keep thinking of our many times together there. MISS YOU SO MUCH baby, can't wait to be back in Germany to be back in your arms. Singapore simply feels sad without you! I really realize what it means to be "one flesh"...

Aaaaaaaahhh... Bet he misses you, too. And am sure that he's lost a stone by now with you not cooking for him and all that. :)
Wish I'd win the lottery so that I could go travelling and stay in Singapore for a month, too. I just want to eat everything that I've seen on the pictures... :(
Dear Jie Jie! =) Hahah, Stephan is probably eating all the frozen pizza and microwavable stuff that he hardly gets to eat when I'm around...you know, guy-food.
I wish you could come to Singapore too! Its such a pity that we didn't manage to bring you, Mom and Dad around the famous eating places. Should definitely target another time to go to Singapore again! =)
