Both families meet (across continents)

Its such a rare opportunity whenever both my families get to meet up. I think the last time was probably 2 years ago, when Stephan and I got married. Hence, every chance to meet up is real divine and times to be treasured.

The first meeting took place at our place when I cooked Hainanese chicken rice and curry chicken. I was so amazed at how my in-laws were eating everything on their plate, including the overly-spicy curry! They even poured the curry sauce generously over their rice! =) Alas my poor beanie hubby couldn´t take the spicyness of it all and his appetite was basically killed. He survived on salad.

I had hoped that the Singaporean food would help my Dad and Grace to ease their craving for local crusine since it would have been 1 week since they flew to Europe. Not forgetting that my Dad´s favourite dish is curry chicken with potatoes of course. When I was in Switzerland, I actually simply wished to have my own kitchen so that I could whip up my own favourites.

Anita cooked a sumptious lunch for us on Sunday after church and in return, my Dad treated us to yummilicious food at an Iranian restaurant for dinner.

Finally we meet after 2 years again!

We all look so happy here!

Cheers to many good memories together! (amidst all the language barrier)

Going for a walk in the vineyards after a full lunch (notice the colour difference? The Blacks vs the colourfuls)

Till we meet again! Dad treated our German family

I was literally shock when I saw my in-laws dinner plates were full of curry gravy! It was too late to forewarn them and the moment Anita munched it, her face 'lighted up' and quickly she bottom-up a glass of wine...She was so sporty, and brave..Have to take off my hat to her as well as her hubby..Well, an example of cultural shock on dinner table..ha..ha...but very delicious indeed to have home-cook Chinese food in a foreign land..3 cheers to my in-laws...

Dear Daddy. Anita and Werner are very sporting hor? That´s exactly what I thought too at the beginning, since they are usually my genuine pigs when trying out new recipes hahaha. It was so lovely to have you over! I just sent a friend off at the airport...she´s from Singapore, wking in London and she came down for the weekend. Had the pinch of sending people off! Just had to remember what it was like to send you and Grace off too. Glad you liked it Dad! =) A pleasure and honor to cook for you and Grace and for the in-laws of course. =)

You know, Werner looks so young with his manly sunglasses on! He looks exactly the same as the photos taken in his family album many..many years ago...So that must be how Anita got swipe off her feet when she first saw you, right Werner? Great dating technique...a tip for me to emulate, to sweep more feeble feet..ha..ha...

I'm so jealous... I wish I could have been there, too... :(

But nevertheless I'm glad that you were all having such a wonderful time together and I'm sure that there will be a day when the 'T-square family' can meet up again including all the missing family members.

Lots of love,

jie jie xx

Dear Dad, heehee. You look younger now...so you´re being successful in your "sweeping off feeble feet" attempt... hahahah

Dear jie jie, of course we missed you! But I´m sure there will be opportunities again, esp. since my Dad is so fond of Europe! Hahah.
