I´m officially sick......

I can´t believe it, but I´m super sick now. Last checked, I´m having a fever with 38.2 degrees. Spent the bulk of the night going to the toilet, cos I was drinking a lot of water and each time I went, I felt like my entire body didn´t belong to me anymore. Its like I´m suffering from muscles atrophy.....woke up today at 12.30pm and still felt I didn´t sleep at all. I think I should watch my food during Christmas, cos I´m simply not used to have large quantitites of western food. My stomach feels a bit like having the stomach flu feeling. Yikes, I hate stomach flu. Stephan has gone to get antibiotics for me and we´re hoping to get some Dvds so that at least we can do smth together during this holiday.

I think a large part is because my throat is not feeling too good - the docs refused to give me antibiotics claiming that my body can heal itself, but hello. I´ve been having super thick mucus in my entire throat for the past 4 weeks already! The thing that really frustrates me is that instead of getting antibiotics, I get all sorts of other medicine that doesn´t help me whatsoever! I don´t mind NOT having antibiotics, if I get proper medicine that helps! But somehow either my body is immune to the german medicine or it simply doesn´t help against the mucus! The additional cost it takes to buy the extra medicine is WAY more expensive than to get the antibiotics itself. I think I must have spent at least 20€ on stupid miscellaneous medicine and the antibiotics that I finally got cost 8€ in comparison. So instead of simply paying 8€ and having a one-time visit, I´ve visited the doc 3 times already and the X-ray clinic once, paid a total 28€, (not including the additional transportation costs) and still end up being sick for 1 month.

I´m seriously considering liasing with my doc in Singapore to air-mail me my medicine, so that at least I save the trouble of having to go to German doctors who simply refuse to help. I mean, if my body was so strong to recover from all illnesses, why the heck would I bother going to the doctors? Maybe the germans have stronger bodies and all, but if anybody who´s used to the temperate climate suddenly lives in a equatorial climate with an average of 30 degrees celsius and 100% humidity, I´m not surprised if the body starts reacting in a way that it has never done before. That´s exactly what´s happening to me here! I get sick and I don´t recover, go to the doctors who don´t give proper medicine and have to justify myself without end about the fact that I need proper medicine simply cos my body is not healing!

People here pay a BOMB for health insurance that doesn´t even help! Whenever I go to the doc, its like I literally have to beg for antibiotics and I hate being treated like the "oh man, that girl is here for antibiotics" way from the docs.

This throat problem makes me very susceptible to all sorts of other health stuff, like today I was vomitting all the water I drank cos I had so much mucus in my throat. I just wish that the docs here make an exception for people who are not used to the climate and their bodies are still adjusting to the cold weather.

I´ve had 2 injections (cos the nurse didn´t draw out enough blood the first time?!?) - to check my blood, went for a lungs X-ray to check if there´s anything wrong with my lungs and was recommended to go to the Eyes-nose-ears doctor next year to get my nasal cavity checked out. Doc says that maybe my nose cavity is too small, so I get mucus quite often?!?! But honestly, if I know my body at all, its simply the cold weather! Like I hardly ever get this mucus stuff in Singapore, but I seem to have it as my constant enemy ever since the cold weather started in Germany.

Plus I just found out that we´re not supposed to on the heater when we sleep and open the window! I mean, I´m freezing already when we close the window and on the heater. To open the window AND no heater, I think I seriously need a miracle from God to get used to the weather. Cos the house is started to get all sorts of moist corners where black stuff starts to gather.

On a brighter note, it has started to snow here...so at least when I feel all gloomy, its looking nice and white outside.

Hi Pris
Back in France since yesterday afternoon. We all went to bed since 5pm and slept till 4am tis morning, feel better. Although Luke slept 8hours on the flight to Frankfurt, it was tough still keeping him occupied for 4hrs and the 3hrs transit in Frankurt was also a killer. Feels good to be home actually and sleeping on own bed. Miss my family and friends but somehow know this is my life now and am hoping they come visit.
I am sorry did not check your blog from Singapore, forgot to bring address with me and also never really got the time to do much except blog sometimes v.quickly when luke is sleeping. Most times when he sleeps I also sleep ! ;)
Your birthday party looked fab, don't worry if sometimes u don't get a actual physical proof (card) that your friends think and remember you, most times we do but just get caught up living our own lives to physically go post office etc but trust me they do think of u, pray for u and hope all is well with you. I hope you recover soon.
JC also kena flu in Singapore, TWICE, he kena again just one day before boarding flight back. Hope he doesnt spread to Luke n me.
U take care and best wishes for 2008.

hey pris,
hope you're feeling better by now. i've been so stressed at work (despite it being the festive season) that i haven't had the energy or mood to update my blog or read others' blogs. So much has happened on your side, with your birthday & christmas parties. i wish i had the energy to organise parties at our place...but i think this is what spore does to you, drains your energy dry. your decorations are beautiful. i especially like the twigs/branch thingy that hangs at the corner :)
