Healthy and kicking again

Wanted to update my blog earlier, but never got the time to get down to it. Ya ya, I know I should have all the time in the world, but I honestly don´t know where all the time goes to! Perhaps because the day is much shorter now, (it gets dark about 4-5pm) that´s why I get tired more easily and it doesn´t help when I don´t get up at the usual 8 or 9am like most people.

Anyways, I´m really thankful for the prayers and messages of encouragements from all of you. I really appreciate every one of them. I´m actually healthy again! No longer coughing or having a cold. I can´t believe how much more alive I feel simply because I´m no longer sick! =) Woo hoo! Thank you God! I do believe that the antibiotics helped so much. I was on it for 1 week and within the first 2 days, my cough reduced significantly compared to the entire week before. For the rest of the week, the cough disappeared gradually.

Realized that I haven´t uploaded any photos for the longest time. Well, so here goes. (Above left: The new additon to my kitchen! Werner and I built it together. We bought shelves for the decoration and a nice, functional microwave.)

My first attempt to make a german cheesecake. Its WAY healthier than the N.Y.cheesecake, but I think I still prefer the American taste more

My version of Chao Fan

The best way to man is through his stomach. Its also my way of encouraging Stephan when he has to wake up early on Sat to go for his tax course. My croissants are a bit "deformed" cos I didn´t fold them properly. Fruits are a regular thing these days, cos everybody´s falling sick.

I´ve been spending quite a lot of time thinking these days too. My Creative Life Planning course has ended and although I still am not 100% sure about what I want to do, at least I´ve got a certain direction. Thing is, there´s still so much stuff to be done. My coach advised me to get contacts, talk to people etc. But that´s gonna take so much time and I really don´t know a lot of people in Germany, neither does Stephan. So, I will send in resumes and talk to people at the same time, rather than waiting to meet the right people and then sending in my resume accordingly.

I´m interested in jobs in intercultural communications and something that requires language proficiency too. Well, to begin with, I have sent out 2 job applications this week already. This has gotten my engine warmed up about applying for jobs and not to be too scared about having to work in a foreign-language firm. Its quite scary when the firm´s official language is german and hmm, if I have to work with documents written in german etc. Well, will commit my steps to the Lord and see what doors He opens for me. Of course I´ll continue to apply for other job positions too.

If you were me, what would you do? There a lot of typical "office jobs" that tie in with my accountancy degree / business. However, I think I´m more interested in human resource, intercultural stuff etc....but I´m not entirely trained in those areas and they are not widely-advertised. Hence, I would probably have to send in "blind applications", in which the chances are not very high. Its really a matter of how much do I want to do something I would possibly be really passionate about? Am I willing to pay the price too? If that means that I would have to wait longer, have a lower salary etc......Geez.....wonder do most 20+ yrs old have to go through the same dilemma as I do....

Hi Pris...glad to know that you are healthy and kicking again :-)

I can see that you are also a Prima Taste's fan :-) me too but the 2 which I like the most are Hainanese Chicken Rice and Fried Hokkien Mee.

I am sure you will be able to find a job, may be not straightaway but will eventually. I haven't applied for a job ever since I moved to Germany so am not too sure about the job market here. I have sort of offered a mini job at Edeka in my village 2 years after I am here, pay is not too much but it's fine with me cos at least I have something to do than just sitting at home :-D

Good luck on your job application.

Find the niche in the market in Germany. How about Language Course especially when there are so many Corporations establishing their presence in China for the past 2 years and still there is a long queue for them to have their presence there.

You will be very surprised that there are many foreigners from U.S., Europe studying CHinese at the Beijing University and other well-known Universities in China.

Many U.S. and European executives are preparing their children to learn Chinese at their young age as they could foresee the rising Superpower of China in the near future.

China is now buying Corporations like nobody business in U.S., Europe etc as they have trillions of dollars to spare...

What does this mean? It would mean that there is indeed a niche in the market to impart language skills to those who need it.

Perhaps in the near future, China would be buying Mercedes Benz; Porches; BMW etc 2 to 5 years time is a reality...

Trust the Lord and use the talents that you have to good use. A tri-lingual person with very strong Chinese background and language is definitely a plus++++ there. I think, there is no or very little competitor for such language course. Be the First to venture into such lucrative business in Germany...You may be surprised that there are many Germans who wish someone could set up such Language Course in their hometown...

THis is what I would do if I had the language skills that you have..

Cheers...ok...lah..bye2

Hey Sue! Thks for your message! Yah my prima taste is like for decoration! hahah, feel like I normally reserve them for special occasions...so precious! Don´t know whether Beta sells them. I love the Hokkien Mee too, but they didn´t have them in SIngapore, the last time I went back. Yah, I heard that you´re working in Edeka, how u like it there? You´re quite nicely adjusted to Germany already right? How long have u been here? 6 yrs?

Dear Dad, I´m still working on my resume. Will apply to do some language courses too, though most of the language teachers are self-employed, which means that they have to scout for their clients and they pay for their own social insurance etc. As such, I´d rather be employed by a company, where I´m covered by the usual social and health insurance and that there´s a regular stream of clients from the company itself. Still searching around. But thanks for your input dad.
